BANFF NATIONAL PARK – A woman in her 50s died after she was thrown from her horse while riding in the area of Ya Ha Tinda Road, police said.
RCMP said they responded to the call at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 12) along with multiple emergency services such as Clearwater Regional Fire Rescue Services and provincial conservation officers.
“As a result of injuries sustained from the fall from the horse, the rider succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene,” said Cpl. Patrick Lambert.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the friends and family of the deceased.”
Adam Loria, a public education officer with Alberta Health Services EMS, said in an email paramedics responded at about 5:30 p.m. but the woman was "determined deceased at the scene."
