BONNYVILLE - Bonnyville RCMP are warning residents after a person was bear sprayed while reportedly meeting up with a buyer regarding an item that had been placed for sale online.

On Jan. 28, at 1:30 p.m., the seller of the item was waiting to meet with a buyer in a parking lot on the east end of Bonnyville. The parking lot was shared by several businesses.

"During the transaction the 'buyer' bear sprayed the victim in the face and took the item out of his hands and fled on foot," according to information released by RCMP.

S/Sgt. Sarah Parke of the Bonnyville RCMP would like to remind community members that there is a designated “Exchange Zone” in the Bonnyville RCMP parking lot where people buying and selling items online can meet when making a transaction.

The suspect was captured on video surveillance and Bonnyville RCMP are hoping the public can help identify the suspect.
