LAKELAND - Lakeland District soccer teams had a great showing over the weekend in Edmonton as the competed in Provincials.
"All had a memorable experience," said Melissa Foglietta, the executive director of the Lakeland District Soccer Association.
But first place wasn't the only title earned by Lakeland teams.
"The U15 Boys Bonnyville and U17 Boys United teams won their division's “Fair Play” awards, which was presented to the teams who the referees rated the highest for sportsmanship," added Foglietta.
Jaren Conrad, player #6 for the U17 Boys United team, also tied for the Golden Boot Award for most goals in the tournament. Conrad would go on to score seven goals throughout the weekend.
Head coach Curtis Conrad noted, many of the U17 boys were among the top 10 scorers in their division at the tournament.
"Well done boys. You have represented Bonnyville Soccer Association and Lakeland Soccer with class," added Conrad.
