BONNYVILLE - The MD of Bonnyville has announced the purchase of a $1.3 million shop to be located at the Bonnyville Regional Airport, which is operated by the MD. The shop will be located near the corner of Highways 41 and 660.
MD of Bonnyville council approved the acquisition of the shop earlier in the year, and the $1.3 million price tag came in under budget, according to information from the municipality.
On July 15, the MD officially took possession of the shop.
The shop will allow airport maintenance equipment to be stored on-site, rather than in a secondary location, streamlining maintenance operations.
As of Sept. 1, a secondary function of the shop will be to house the MD's Agricultural Services and Waste Services departments.
These departments include the Ag Services Equipment Rental Program, which allows for the rental of MD of Bonnyville-owned equipment such as corral panels, a post pounder, and skunk traps.
According to the MD of Bonnyville, the Ag Services Equipment Rental Program aims to provide an array of equipment to ensure agricultural operations remain sustainable and profitable.
The shop at the airport will provide a safer and easier location for residents picking up rental equipment, according to the municipality.
“The larger space means there will be more room to manoeuvre the equipment, while reducing the amount of traffic currently being encountered in the Public Works yard," states the MD of Bonnyville.
