Over the weekend, Bonnyville RCMP received three calls for impaired driving, which resulted in one driver being charged with breath samples of three times the legal limit.
Over the weekend, Bonnyville RCMP received three calls for impaired driving, which resulted in one driver being charged with breath samples of three times the legal limit. Routine traffic stops were conducted this past weekend with several violation tickets issued. Bonnyville RCMP also conducted a boat patrol on Moose Lake, which resulted in several infractions being observed. This is the third patrol of this type this year with patrols expected to continue.
Bonnyville RCMP responded to a three-vehicle collision on Highway 28 and Highway 41 just after 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The collision was caused by an unsafe left turn, which resulted in a ticket being issued against a 34-year-old male driver of a Dodge truck. One of the occupants was transported to Bonnyville Health Center where he was treated for minor injuries and then released. No other injuries were reported. The parties involved are residents of Bonnyville and the surrounding areas. A total of nine motor vehicle collisions were reported over the weekend.
On Friday morning Bonnyville RCMP received two calls from the Iron River area, regarding a older dark blue Dodge Caravan, reporting that the occupants were acting suspiciously and may have been trying to use a stolen or fraudulent credit card.
Bonnyville RCMP responded to a call of a male breaking windows at a residence in Bonnyville, being violent and breaching his probation conditions on Sunday evening. A 27-year-old Bonnyville resident was arrested and taken to hospital for self-inflicted injuries. The following charges are pending: assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, seven counts of failure to comply with conditions, and mischief are pending.
Bonnyville Victim Services Unit welcomed a new member to their team on Monday, as Odie, a yellow Labrador Retriever trained by Dogs With Wings has joined the service. Odie has been specifically trained to help ease the effects of trauma that victims of crime and tragedy experience.
