CHERRY GROVE – The Cherry Grove Ag Society (CGAS) hosted its annual fall fair and bench show on Sept. 28 complete with carnival games, vendors, food trucks, tractor rides, a dinner, and more.
The event took place at the Cherry Grove Hall, where bouncy castles also lined the field with a swarm of excited children.
This year's fall fair and bench show saw record attendance numbers, and the CGAS expressed their appreciation to the community for coming out and making the event such a success.
Attendee Patrick Longren brought his family to the fair for some much-needed family time.
“It’s great to come out to community events like this . . . I know how much work they are, and I feel like it’s more important than ever to get everybody together,” said Longren.
Participants of the bench show entered their art and homegrown produce to be judged for prizes and to share their talents with the community.
“This bench show is a cherished tradition that highlights the unique talents and spirit of our community. It’s an event where we come together to exhibit and celebrate our skills, creativity, and achievements in various categories. From crafts and artwork to baked goods, produce, flowers, and other homemade or homegrown products, there’s something for everyone to enjoy,” according to information from CGAS.
Bench shows are becoming rarer in the Lakeland. The bench show at Cherry Grove has been held annually since 1983, and organizers plan to continue the tradition.
