Cold Lake RCMP lay drug trafficking and weapon charges against two men

Police stopped a vehicle on Oct. 31, believing the occupants were involved in illegal drug trafficking.

COLD LAKE - Two men were arrested on Halloween in Cold Lake following a traffic stop within city limits.

Police stopped a vehicle, believing the occupants were involved in "illegal drug trafficking," and two men were subsequently arrested and charged.

During the search, police located about 135 grams of suspected cocaine, about 10 grams of suspected methamphetamine, over $6,000 in Canadian currency, a loaded sawed-off shotgun, and other paraphernalia consistent in drug trafficking, according to information released by RCMP.

Police also obtained a search warrant for a Cold Lake residence associated to one of the men.

"Members of the Cold Lake RCMP General Investigations Section and General Duty officers executed the search warrant on Nov. 1," according to RCMP. 

During the search of the residence, police allegedly found more quantities of suspected cocaine, quantities of suspected fentanyl, ammunition, and body armour.

Warren Johannesen-Quail, 34, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance; possession of a prohibited weapon; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.

Keenan Plamondon, 30, has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Both men are from Cold Lake.

Johannesen-Quail was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was released on a release order. He is schedule to appear in court on Dec. 11 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake.

Plamondon was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded, according to RCMP. He is schedule to appear in court on Nov. 13 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake.
