COLD LAKE - Over two months after the incident took place, RCMP are reaching out to the public for information regarding an alleged assault that took place at the Cold Lake Energy Centre field house on May 31.

RCMP received the complaint of an assault on June 3.

At approximately 5:15 p.m. on May 31, on the second floor of the Energy Centre field house, a group of youths reportedly approached a victim, according to information release by RCMP on Aug. 28.

"An unknown male from the group proceeded to assault the victim causing bodily injuries. Youths were not known to each other," according to the information from RCMP.

Mayor Craig Copeland responded to the concerns during the meeting, expressing regret over the reported incident.

"First of all, I'd like to say on behalf of the council and everybody at the City of Cold Lake, we're sorry that your son was a victim of an attack at the Energy Centre. I didn't realize that we didn't have any security, so... we’ll review that."

At the time, RCMP did confirm with Lakeland This Week/LakelandTODAY that a complaint had been made on June 3, regarding the incident and an investigation was taking place.
