COLD LAKE - The holiday spirit was evident in Cold Lake on Friday night when over 40 floats made their way downtown for the annual City of Cold Lake Santa Claus Parade.

Organizations and businesses showed off a variety of creative floats which included a cozy cabin, an art display, and a festive hockey bus.

Awards will be given to best non-profit and local business floats and this year, Cold Lake Mayor Craig Copeland will be picking a winner for his favourite float. Last year, best non-profit float winner was Cold Lake First Nations Youth Centre, and Wedding Cake Wonders by Louise won for best local business float.

After the parade, there was a Christmas Kick-off Party at the Energy Centre were pictures with Santa were offered, people could create Christmas crafts, there was a letter writing station, and a variety of bouncy houses also. Energy Centre staff planned for 1,000-1,500 people to attend the kick-off event and 3,000-5,000 to attend the parade.
