ELK POINT – A Friday afternoon structure fire had the Elk Point Fire Department calling in for help from St. Paul when access to a fire at a home on 49 Street proved unsafe with their department’s equipment, according to Fire Chief Bryce Osinchuk.

“We called St. Paul Fire to attend with a command unit and their ladder truck. The fire was in the attic and made the roof unsafe so we needed extra assistance in accessing the fire.”

The long reach of the ladder truck allowed water to reach the flames.

Two fire trucks and eight firefighters responded from Elk Point and five came from St. Paul, four with the ladder truck and Deputy Fire Chief Henry Thomson with the Command unit.
