LAC LA BICHE – Curlers from across the Lac La Biche region, as well Boyle and St. Paul, were at the Lac La Biche Curling Club on March 14 and 15 to participate in the fourth annual Ladies Curling Bonspiel.
The two-day competition drew 12 teams, who were guaranteed three games each. The tournament featured an A, B, and C event winner format. On March 15, once the regular games had wrapped up, teams faced off against each other in the semifinals and finals to determine who would be the winners.
The Lac La Biche Curling Club will play host to the final bonspiel of the season, the Mixed Bonspiel, which is taking place from April 3-6.
Many of those who participated in the 2025 edition of the Ladies Curling Bonspiel were from the Lac La Biche region, including Chelsea Webster and Amanda Paré.
Webster, who has been competing in the bonspiel for the past few years, said it’s an enjoyable event and one to look forward to.
“It’s just fun to get all the girls out together and curl,” Webster said.
Like Webster, Paré, who lives in the Lac La Biche County hamlet of Plamondon, also competes in the annual bonspiel with her team. In addition to the Ladies Curling Bonspiel, Paré, curls during the winter months with a Plamondon-based league.
The Ladies Curling Bonspiel, she said, is a nice opportunity to get out and curl while having a good time.
“I love curling, so it’s fun,” she said.
