LAKELAND - The Bonnyville U13 AAA Yaks handed an 8-6 defeat to the KC Lancers in an Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL) contest that took place at Lac La Biche’s Bold Centre on Feb. 9.

The Yaks dominated the scoreboard during the first half of the first period. Bonnyville’s Declan Bourassa got the puck past KC Lancers goaltender Madden Gardiner twice while teammate Dawson Axley acquired the team’s third goal of the afternoon meeting between the two AEHL squads.

The Edmonton-based Lancers retaliated. Keegan McConnell and Mohamed Fattah each got the puck past Bonnyville goalie Asher Eldridge to bring the scoreboard to 3-2. The Yaks Randy Welsh and Lancers Jaxson Loblick scored one goal each before the period concluded.

The second period started off with McConnell scoring the Lancers’ fourth goal of the contest, evening the scoreboard 4-4. However, this would be short-lived as Bourassa soon acquired his third goal of the game and Welsh scored his second.

During the third period, Loblick scored his second goal of the match, while Lancers forward Idrees Rahall had his first. The final goal of the game was scored by Axely.
