LAC LA BICHE – On Feb. 21, residents of the Lac La Biche area representing various community organizations and businesses laced up their bowling shoes for a good cause, and took part in the Bowl for Kids’ Sake event.
The fun bowling competition, which is the biggest annual fundraiser for the Lac La Biche Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) program, got underway at the Lucky Strike Bowling Alley at 6 p.m.
According to Lori Beniuk, program facilitator for the Lac La Biche BBBS program, 13 teams comprised of four bowlers each showed up to take part in this year’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake.
Those teams played each other for the chance to win a variety of prizes donated by local businesses. The 2025 edition of the fundraising initiative had a jersey theme. Many of the bowlers in attendance wore hockey jerseys, and the best dressed team received a prize. The event also featured a light meal along with a raffle and a 50/50 draw.
As stated in information from Big Brothers Big Sisters Lac La Biche, the Bowl for Kids’ Sake event typically raises $10,000 a year. Funds go directly to the local program. Organizers of this year’s fundraiser challenged participants to raise at least $100 each.
