Giving a friend a ride home from the Lac La Biche RCMP detachment ended up costing a Lac La Biche man $3,000 in tickets.
The man arrived at the detachment just after 2:30 a.m. on November 15 to pick up a friend who had spent time in the police holding cells.
Thinking the truck looked suspicious, officers decided to do a background check on the license plate and found out was the driver had no vehicle registration, no insurance, an invalid driver’s license and a license plate that wasn’t registered to the driver.
The man is scheduled to appear in court in the middle of December.
A smashed windshield was the result of a heated argument between a couple who were fighting outside their home near Portage College on November 18 at 11 a.m.
After words were exchanged and a shoving match between the two ensued, the husband became so enraged with anger that he reportedly smashed the windshield of their car with a rock.
The man was arrested and charged and is scheduled to appear in Lac La Biche Provincial Court early next week.
RCMP officers were patrolling the hamlet of Lac La Biche on November 14 at 5 a.m. when officers noticed a white half-ton truck swerving on 94 Avenue.
They pulled the vehicle over and after speaking to the 24-year old male behind the wheel, officers noted the smell of alcohol on the man’s breath.
The man was arrested and brought back to the police station, where his blood alcohol levels tested higher than the legal limit.
The man was charged with drunk driving and is scheduled to appear in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on December 13.
Police were called to the Lac La Biche Liquor & Wine Spirits store after a 16-year old youth was seen by staff stealing a bottle of liquor just after 6 p.m. on November 17.
The youth, who is well-known to police, was later found by officers but did not have the bottle on him.
No charges were laid.
