Hockey camp focuses on essential on-ice skills, off-ice strength and conditioning

From Aug. 28 to Sept. 1, several young hockey players from the region attended Ski's Hockey Skills camp at the Bold Center to improve their game.

LAC LA BICHE - While the weather outside was hot and sunny on Aug. 28, a group of U11 and U13 hockey players took to the ice at the Bold Center in Lac La Biche to brush up on their skills in preparation for the upcoming season.

From Aug. 28 to Sept. 1, Ski’s Skills Hockey Camp helped many local young hockey players improve their game by teaching puck shooting and handling, passing, skating with the puck, as well as edge work.

The camp, which is operated by Carter Wolski, featured an off-ice training component that involved participants engaging in strength and conditioning training, which included running and jumping outside.

Ski’s Skills Hockey has been putting on camps since 2019. Wolski's hockey career has included playing for the University of Alberta Golden Bears and Red Deer College, as well as with the Grande Prairie Storm and Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).
