Man wanted by RCMP believed to be in Lac La Biche area

A man who is wanted by RCMP is believed to be in the Lac La Biche area, possibly driving a stolen truck.

LAC LA BICHE - Police are looking for a 39-year-old man who is believed to be in the Lac La Biche area and driving a stolen vehicle.

Peter Hamelin is considered to be armed and dangerous, according to RCMP.

"He was last seen in the Plamondon area," reads information released the morning of   Oct. 26.

The vehicle police believe he is driving is described a 2006 yellow Ford F350 with “Amarillo” on the passenger side rear end, and happy faces on the front grill.

If you see Hamelin or this stolen vehicle, please call 911. Police are telling the public to not approach Hamelin.

"We understand how situations such as this can make a community feel uneasy, but rest assured, your Alberta RCMP is working tirelessly to locate the suspect," reads the Saturday media release from RCMP. "We ask that the public remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or tips to the Lac La Biche RCMP or Crime Stoppers."

On Oct. 24, RCMP asked residents in Heart Lake to "shelter in place" as police were looking for a suspect who fled from RCMP. The suspect was believed to be in possession of firearms.

The suspect was identified as Hamelin in the RCMP media release.

"There are a significant number of resources focused on apprehending this suspect and protecting the public," reads the late-night Oct. 24 media release. The shelter in place ended in the early morning hours of Oct. 25, but police had not located the suspect.
