A school bus rollover near Caslan resulted in a smashed-up bus and minor injuries for the driver.
The accident happened last Tuesday, when a driver with the Aspen View School Board was driving toward Boyle on Highway 663. The driver had just dropped off the last of the Boyle School students from her bus at their homes in the Caslan area.
Reports say that a deer suddenly jumped onto the road, and the driver swerved to avoid hitting it. But there was a bump in the road, which caused the bus to roll into the ditch.
The driver received some minor bumps and bruises and was taken to Boyle Hospital for observation. She went back to work the next day, and the school board was able to find a replacement bus, says Brian LeMessurier, superintended of the school board
“This didn’t disrupt bussing at all for us,” LeMessurier said.
And although the bus is out of service, LeMessurier said that everyone is grateful that the accident wasn’t more serious.
“We’re thankful no one was seriously hurt,” he said.
