Ringing in the new year with glow swimming

A large group of local residents enjoyed themselves at the annual Portage College New Year's eve glow swim.

LAC LA BICHE - There’s nothing quite as fun as going swimming while glowing in the dark, especially on New Year’s eve.

On Sunday, a large group of Lac La Biche residents gathered at the Portage Pool for the annual New Year’s eve glow swim. With many of the lights in the facility turned off, the pool was lit up by multicoloured glow sticks which had been thrown into the water by staff.

Swimmers, many of whom wore arm and headbands made of glow sticks, were also illuminated by ever-changing red, blue, and green LED lights as they frolicked in the water, with many of the kids playing among the sunglass wearing inflatable yellow ducks, who were also swimming around.

Those who needed a break from swimming relaxed in the hot tub or steam room.
