Thieves use snow-cover at Lac La Biche compound break-in

Late night storm backdrops late night crime at local compound

Overnight snow on Tuesday didn't cool down criminal activity in Lac La Biche, as RCMP were called to a break-in a few lots away from their detachment.

Mounties drove just a few hundred feet up Beaver Hill Road on Wednesday morning to investigate reports that a fenced compound beonging to Alberta Agriculture and Forestry had been broken into by thieves who rummaged through vehicles and stole tools and equipment.

Lac La Biche RCMP say thieves cut the chain link fence that was topped with barbed-wire sometime overnight to gain entry into the compound area. Once inside, police say the suspects broke into vehicles, trailer, sheds and containers causing damage and stealing multiple items.

Surveillance footage from the area captured images of the suspects, who police say fled the area in an unknown vehicle.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact the Lac La Biche RCMP at 780-623-4012 or your local police. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
