ALBERTA - RCMP officers in many parts of the province were busy on March 27, responding to motor vehicle collisions.
"In total, police in RCMP jurisdiction responded to 147 motor vehicle collisions. Fortunately, there were no fatalities," according to information from RCMP.
"Although we are at the tail end of winter, snow storms are still common and we asks that drivers continue to take steps to ensure the safety of themselves and others," say police.
RCMP also offered some tips motorists should keep in mind.
- Ensure windows, side mirrors and lights are properly and completely cleared of snow.
- Help others see you, may sure your lights are turned on.
- Reduce your speed and give yourself more time to slow and stop.
- Listen to the radio or check 511 Alberta for updated road and weather reports.
- Plan extra time to get to your destination.
- Be prepared for changing road and weather conditions. Pack blankets or a winter survival kit, especially if you are planning a trip outside of town.
