This year for the first time ever, it was Elk Point and district residents who chose the winners in the community Christmas Lighting and Decorating Contest, after a delegation from the town’s Recreation Committee chose their top three and put it to an online vote.
It was definitely not Elvis Sibal’s first time in the winner’s circle, but this avid decorator always finds some way to add even more to his glittering display, which is clearly visible to northbound travelers on Highway 41. He was chosen as first prize winner by the majority of voters.
Second place went to Gillian and Dave Cousins, where Santa, his reindeer, a snowman and even a penguin made the scene, and who say they will donate their prize money for a very attractive display to Santas Anonymous.
Third place went to many time contenders David and Jeannette Buksa for an outstanding white light display topped with a glittering star.
