Glendon-area man faces six counts of firearm offences

Between Nov. 19 to Nov. 26, Bonnyville RCMP officers were involved with 135 investigations.

BONNYVILLE – On Nov. 25 at around 5:45 p.m., while conducting a proactive patrol in the Town of Bonnyville, a member of the Bonnyville RCMP initiated a roadside check with a suspicious vehicle. 

According to the RCMP, both the male driver and the female passenger were found to be wanted on warrants and were subsequently arrested.   

During a search of the vehicle a loaded firearm was found, say police. 

A 29-year-old man from the Glendon area is facing six counts of firearms offences and one count of driving an uninsured motor vehicle.   

The 29-year-old woman from Cochrane is facing charges of seven firearms offences.   

Both individuals are in custody awaiting bail hearings. 

RCMP respond to a highway collision 

On Nov. 22 at 5:40 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Range Road 455 and Highway 660 involving a minivan and a pickup truck.  

According to RCMP, “both vehicles were travelling in the same direction (when) the vehicle in front performed an unsafe left turn causing a collision between the two.”   

A 51-year-old female from Bonnyville, who sustained minor injuries from the collision has been issued a violation ticket for an unsafe left turn, say police.    

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the incident. 

Man loitering in hotel faces mischief charges 

On Nov. 23 at 4:30 p.m., Bonnyville RCMP received a complaint of an unwanted man loitering inside a local hotel. 

Police say the man was allegedly intimidating the housekeeping staff and trying to gain access to hotel rooms.   

RCMP members attended the call and observed the suspect as he was attempting to leave the hotel.   

The man was stopped by police, arrested and charged with mischief. He is due to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Dec. 7.
