ST. PAUL - Midway through the 2022 golf season, the Town of St. Paul's golf course will be welcoming a new manager at the popular summer spot.
And while it may not have been ideal to have to start the hiring process over during the golf season, Town of St. Paul CAO Steven Jeffery says the Town is happy to recruit someone new who also has ties to the community.
Sean Hovelkamp will begin working as the new golf club manager on Aug. 8.
"We are extremely excited to bring a young, enthusiastic and homegrown manager to the St. Paul Golf Course," said Jeffery, on Friday. "Sean is no stranger to the game nor is he a stranger to our pro shop and course as he spent his summers working in the pro shop throughout his high school and university years."
After leaving St. Paul for post-secondary schooling, Hovelkamp transferred from the University of Alberta to Colorado on a full golf scholarship, where he played for three and a half years.
"His experience, passion and knowledge of the game are all exciting attributes that I know Sean is going to bring to the table," said Jeffery.
Former Golf Club Manager David Belling's last day was July 21, confirmed Jeffery on July 29.
"Although Dave's time was short with us, we appreciated his commitment to the game and his desire for success," said Jeffery. "His decision to leave was for personal reasons. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours."
