Police say truck theft victim dragged along Lac La Biche street

Police say man dragged behind his own truck as theft suspect speeds away

LAC LA BICHE - Lac La Biche RCMP are looking for a stolen truck and the person who allegedly drove away with it as the owner was being dragged along.

Police say that on Wednesday, November 23, just before 11 pm they responded to a report that a truck had been stolen from the parking lot outside the Esso Tags convenience store on Lac La Biche's Main Street. RCMP say they learned that the truck's driver — an adult male — went into the convenience store, but then noticed someone getting into his parked vehicle. Police report that the man confronted the suspect, but was dragged "for a number of residential blocks, possibly being run over,"  as the suspect sped away.

"The victim sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital," says RCMP spokesperson Cst. Patrick Lambert.

RCMP have released an image and description of the stolen truck, a later model, bright red Chev Silverado with Alberta license plate BCZ8292.

RCMP are looking for the suspect described as a male with a grey-coloured hoodie, dark pants, dark shoes, about 5'10'' to six feet tall.

Additionally, RCMP are looking to follow up with the patrons who may have been fuelling up at Esso Tags during this event.

Police are encouraging anyone with information, dash cam footage or residential video about this crime or those responsible, to  contact the Lac La Biche RCMP at 780-623-438 or  Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
