Each year, the Alberta Farm Fair International program awards a dozen or more rural Alberta families with an Alberta Farm Family Award. The recognition is for nominated families who show dedication to their farms and their community.

One of this year’s recipients is the Kuznetsov family from the Plamondon area. Family members will receive the award in Lac La Biche County by the Agricultural Service Board in the coming week.

For the past 50 years, families who run a range of farms from agricultural to tree farms have received the award. Other Lakeland-area families have also been presented with the award in recent years, including the Antoniuk family from the MD of Bonnyville and the Huk Family Farm in Smoky Lake County. Both of those families received their recognition last year.

The 2021 award recipient list features only the Kuznetsov family from the Lakeland area.

Lac La Biche County councillor for Ward 3 Colette Borgun nominated the family farm, run by Arseny, Nick, & Stepan Kuznetsov, after recognizing their hard work throughout the family’s time in the community.

There will be followup information on the family and the award presentation in the coming week. Look for the update at www.lakelandtoday.ca

The award announcement were made just prior to the start of the annual Farm Fair International event that takes place at the Edmonton Expo Centre from November 10 -14. Some of this year's Farm Family Award recipients will be accepting their awards at the event. Other scheduled events include cattle shows, honey exhibits and trade shows.
