UPDATE: RCMP locate man wanted in connection to shooting incident

On Feb. 7, 2021, Tyre Youngchief’s warrants were executed in Edmonton.

St. Paul RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating Youngchief. He was remanded after his judicial hearing and will be appearing in St. Paul Provincial Court on Feb. 18, 2021.

SADDLE LAKE - RCMP are looking for a man wanted in connection to a shooting in Saddle Lake Cree Nation on Dec. 12.

At about 2:45 p.m., St. Paul RCMP responded to a call on Saddle Lake Cree Nation where a male had sprayed bear spray into a residence.

Two victims were in the residence at that time and police were unable to locate the suspect. "This investigation is still on-going," according to RCMP.

Then, at 11:50 p.m. that same day, St. Paul RCMP responded to a second call at the residence where shots had been exchanged between the home owner and a vehicle containing the believed suspect from the earlier event.

"One passenger in the vehicle sustained a minor injury to the head but declined medical attention," according to RCMP.

As a result of the incident, Clayton Omeasoo, 45, of Saddle Lake has been charged with the following:

  • Discharge of a firearm with intent
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm when knowing possession if unauthorized
  • Weapon possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization
  • Fail to comply with release order condition (x2)

Omeasoo was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing and was scheduled to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on Dec. 17.

St. Paul RCMP are now seeking the public’s assistance in locating Tyre Youngchief, 24, also of Saddle Lake.

Youngchief is described as an Indigenous male, about 6' tall, 185 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. 

Youngchief is wanted on multiple outstanding warrants, including charges of:

  • Discharge firearm with intent
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Fail to comply with release order condition (x5)

"St. Paul RCMP advise public not to approach Tyre Youngchief as he is believed to be armed and dangerous."
