St. Paul Regional High School students spearhead Truth and Reconciliation event

Orange Shirt Day events took place at St. Paul Regional High School on Sept. 28.

ST. PAUL – Students at the St. Paul Regional High School (SPRHS) organized a student-led and student-focused program for Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 28.

“We’re embarking on a journey that was actually spearheaded by St. Paul’s Regional High School Students Union,” said Clifford Cardinal, Cultural Advisor with St. Paul Education. “They have been involved in... preparations for all of this to happen for all of our students.”

According to Cardinal, SPRHS students have been committed to their individual and personal journey of learning the truth, leading them toward the path of reconciliation. Included in the program was a cultural ceremony, bringing traditional dances, elders, and dignitaries together. An honor song was also picked by students themselves.

Speakers were also invited to talk and share the importance of Truth and Reconciliation to students on Sept. 28. Cardinal said all participants volunteered their time, and guest speakers were provided tobacco and blankets.
