It was more of the same from the Pee-Wee division Bonnyville Braves baseball team this past weekend.
The team dominated all four of its games at Peter Kushnir ballpark on Saturday and Sunday and now sport an impressive 16-0 record during league play thus far.
The Braves opened the weekend on Saturday afternoon with a convincing 11-4 win over Fort Saskatchewan. Nickolas Cardinal was a stud on the mound, pitching over five innings and throwing over 80 pitches to secure the victory. Joe Pascal sealed the deal on the mound in the seventh inning to clinch the win.
Saturday evening saw the Braves take on St.Albert and the game was ended in the sixth inning via the mercy rule, at a final score of 13-3. Tristan Kean was on the mound for over five innings, throwing 80 pitches for the win, Bradon Goulet came on in relief for Kean to finish the job.
The games continued on Sunday morning, with the Braves mercying Fort Saskatchewan in five innings, by a score of 18-3. Devon Sabatier picked up the win and Brandon Slusarski shut the door in relief.
The last game took place on Sunday afternoon and again saw the Braves win via mercy, trouncing St. Albert 21-5. Joe Pascal picked up the win, with Brandon Slusarski and Brayden Goulet completing the game.
The Braves will now travel to Okotoks next weekend to continue the seeding of the Tier I division. Following their games in Okotoks, the Braves will prepare for provincials, which takes place from July 23-25.
