Perfect round offs and, cartwheels, along with amazing flexibility and balance were just some of the moves on display during the St. Paul Gymnastics Club's second annual fun meet, held Tuesday at the Centre Communautaire.
The gymnastics club has been offering classes in St. Paul for five years, growing over the years in members. Last fall was the highest registration yet, with 183 gymnasts taking to the mats each week. The club continues to fundraise each session, which has allowed for equipment to be purchased over the years.
And that equipment is clearly being used well.
On Tuesday, 15 gymnasts showed off their best moves, and they did not disappoint. Members from the Rose A and Rose B groups participated in the fun meet. The groups are coached by Cathie Prather, who comes to St. Paul from Edmonton to coach with the St. Paul club.
Board members were very impressed with with much the young girls have accomplished.
"They are all very talented," said Pauline Scrannage, president of the club.
The club aims to continue adding equipment to its collection, along with adding more classes as needed, and offering birthday parties. Summer camps and a competitive program are goals for the future, along with one day finding a permanent location for the club, where equipment can stay up all the time.
The Tuesday event was judged by Sydnie Bespalko and Morgan Gerlinksy.

Fundraiser
The St. Paul Gymnastics Club hosted its annual fundraiser on May 5, at the St. Paul Rec. Centre. The night included plenty of food and entertainment, along with a silent auction and other fundraising initiatives.
According to one of the event organizers Denise Jean, over $15,000 is estimated to have been raised during the evening.
