The goal lamp was hardly dim during the Bantam Clippers Iornside Sales and Rentals after they bested the Boyle Blazers 13-2.

The Clippers faced of against the Blazers in the Bold Centre on Jan. 19 during a North Eastern Alberta Hockey League regular season match up.

Despite the huge win Clippers head coach Pat Meyer was disappointed with the match up after beating Boyle in a close 9-5 game earlier in the season.

“They have a couple injuries and a couple of suspensions tonight. That’ s why they didn’ t compete,” said Meyer. “They’ re a better team than that, but they’ re injured and shorthanded.”

The Clippers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, racking up seven goals in the first 15 minutes of play. Brenan Rosychuk earned himself a natural hat trick scoring his teams first three goals followed by a fourth goal halfway through the period. Clippers players Colby Reid, Adam Abougouche and Simeon King would also add to the seven goal effort.

After getting a substantial 7-1 lead early in the game, Meyer decided this was now the time to work on his teams systems.

“We talked to the kids we told them to throw the puck around - still score some goals - but throw the puck around and work on things. It’ s a game that they can practice different plays, using the points, using the wingers and cycling.”

The Clippers began taking more shots from the point and one-timer plays putting up four more goals in the second period from Reid, Sid McDonald Logan St. Jean and Lucas Meyer to take an 11-2 lead.

The Cilppers would close out the game with to more goals in the third period from Jesse Thody and Pacen Cardinal.

After the blow out win coach Meyer said that their as still a few things his team needs to work on before playoffs begin in February.

“We need to play better as a team,” he said. hat’ s been our thing all year. These games are not a good indication of that, but we need to play better as a team and be more disciplined that what we need to work on.”

The Clippers will face off against the Bonnyville Pontiacs on Jan. 27 in the Bold Centre.
