Canadien Peewee A's advance to zone final

The Peewee A Canadiens advanced to round three in the playdowns to represent Zone 7 at the Alberta Winter Games in February after two games last week. The Canadiens defeated Lac La Biche in the two game total point series with a score of 21-8.

The Canadiens swept the first game in Lac La Biche on Nov. 28 9-3 and won again at home 12-5 on Wednesday.

The team will now face Marwayne in the final series of play downs this week starting on Thursday in Marwayne and on Dec. 16 in St. Paul.The Canadiens advanced to the second round after defeating Bonnyville the week prior.

In the game on Nov. 28, the teams played a close first period, ending 3-2 for the Canadiens. In the second, the Canadiens pulled away with three to Lac La Biche’s one, and the Canadiens topped off the win with three in the third. Clyde Bruised Head scored five goals and made an assist. Tyler Chorney scored one, Dimitri Wozniak scored two and made an assist, Arron Gagne scored one and made three assists. Also helping out with assists were Brandon Gerlinsky with one and Brodie Lamb with two.

At Wednesday’s game, the score after the first favoured the Canadiens 5-3, but the Canadiens pulled away in the second and third with seven goals to Lac La Biche’s two.

Spencer Graling and Gagne scored four each. Damon Roy scored twice, and Wozniak and Bruised Head one apiece. Assists went to Ben McPherson (three), Lamb (one), Bruised Head (one), Chorney (one), Gerlinsky (one), Gagne (four), Sheldon Scrannage (one) and Roy (one).
