Glen Avon students release butterflies to the skies

From small larvae to butterflies, the project at the St. Paul school is part of the students' learning about the animal cycle of life.

ST. PAUL – During a brief period of sunshine, elementary students at Glen Avon School released butterflies on June 13.

Teacher Kyla Reid said the students observed the process of butterfly metamorphosis in their classroom over the last few weeks.

"We raised them from small larvae... then into the chrysalis... into adult butterflies."

The project is part of the students' science class, learning about the animal cycle of life.

"They really loved raising the butterflies," said Reid.
