SADDLE LAKE - A human skull has been found by a hunter in Saddle Lake Cree Nation and RCMP are investigating the discovery.

On Oct. 13, St. Paul RCMP were called by a local hunter who found the skull while on a game trail.

"RCMP officers quickly attended and had the skull sent to the medical examiner’s office. RCMP met with the Saddle Lake Band to advise them of the discovery," reads information from RCMP.

The identity of the deceased has not been determined.

RCMP arranged with Alberta Police Dog Services to have police dog Peyak search the area on Oct. 25. RCMP also contacted St. Paul Search and Rescue to coordinate a search of the area the day after.

"Thorough search efforts have been made and police are continuing their investigation," according to RCMP.
