Hundreds attend annual St. Paul block party at Lagasse Park

ST. PAUL – Not even the overcast skies could dampen the spirits at the Splash Park at Lagasse Park on Aug. 16 in St. Paul, where nearly 300 residents attended the annual block party hosted by the St. Paul Regional Family & Community Support Services (FCSS).

Brenda Billo, programmer at the FCSS was among the event’s organizers. She could not help but smile as she watched the steady stream of attendees - from the children dashing through the splash park, to the hum of conversations, and the laughter of those who played about - it was a fun sight.

ANd that is what the event is all about, said Billo. It’s about building community connections, and stronger community connection means “We are stronger together.”

Billo thanked all those who came out.

“It gives us the opportunity to bring more events and more connections every day,” she said.
