SADDLE LAKE – A man is dead following a stabbing on the Saddle Lake Cree Nation on Jan. 8.
RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence and found 61-year-old Garvin Lloyd Chisan with serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, then transported by STARS to Edmonton. However, later that day he died of his injuries, according to an RCMP report.
“The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was deployed and took carriage of the investigation. On Jan. 10, RCMP arrested and charged 44-year-old Saddle Lake Cree Nation resident Jeremy Shaun Cardinal with first-degree murder.
Cardinal was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for Jan. 13, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lac la Biche.
