LAKELAND -  The Alberta Health Services (AHS) Screen Test program will be in Saddle Lake Cree Nation and Fishing Lake Métis Settlement last this month, providing screening mammograms to eligible individuals.

The mobile mammography trailer will be at the Saddle Lake Cree Nation Health Centre on Sept. 25 and 26, and then it will move to the Fishing Lake Métis Settlement Communiplex parking lot on Sept. 27.

Screening is available at no cost for eligible individuals aged 45 to 74, but appointments are required, according to AHS.

Call 1-800-667-0604 to book an appointment or learn more about the program.

"A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast. Screening mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early when treatment may work better. Getting screened for breast cancer saves lives," reads information provided by AHS.

The mobile screen test program travels across the province, and a list of other locations and dates can be found online through the Screening For Life website.

"Screen Test is improving access to cancer screening for thousands of individuals in Alberta communities where mammograms are not readily available," says AHS.
