Morning collision near Ashmont claims life of 40-year-old woman

ST. PAUL - A 40-year-old woman has died after a collision near Ashmont on April 23.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a two-vehicle head on collision between two trucks near the intersection of Highway 28 and Highway 36 at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, according to RCMP.

"When police arrived, one female was declared deceased on scene," according to information released by police. "One male was airlifted to an Edmonton hospital with serious injuries."

The 40-year-old woman was a resident of Maskwacis, Alta.

"Impairment by drugs or alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision," according to RCMP.
