Renovations at St. Paul hospital almost done

The $3.5 million renovation project at the St. Therese-St. Paul Healthcare Centre in St. Paul is close to completion.

ST. PAUL – The $3.5 million renovation project at the St. Therese-St. Paul Healthcare Centre emergency department (ED) in St. Paul is close to completion.

Information from Alberta Health Services (AHS) notes that key upgrades include increasing exam rooms to from seven to 10, the creation of a dedicated triage space, “enhanced treatment spaces for improved patient privacy and safety,” as well as new bariatric accessible washrooms.

“Additionally, there are upgrades to vital hospital infrastructure, including electrical, data, mechanical, medical gas, and nurse call systems,” according to information from AHS.

Additional work has also been completed to accommodate the renovations at the emergency department, including a new diagnostic imaging space and X-ray machine, and new electrocardiogram space.

“Once finished, these upgrades will ensure the ED provides quality emergency care available to the community for many years. More information will be shared once the project is completed,” according to AHS.

In March 2021, the Alberta government under former Premier Jason Kenney, announced it would provide $3.5 million funding for the hospital’s ED renovation through the province’s Rural Health Facilities Revitalization Program.

Construction began in the fall of 2023.
