SADDLE LAKE - A report of a man discharging a firearm ultimately lead to RCMP searching two residences, the seizure of three firearms, and four people being charged.
On March 22, Saddle Lake RCMP responded to a report of a man discharging a firearm and walking around with the weapon.
"Police responded, and arrested one male holding a firearm. Through investigation, this firearm was determined to be stolen," according to information from police.
"In continuing their investigation, police were able to draft a search warrant for a residence in Saddle Lake. During the execution of the search warrant, two males were arrested, and a firearm was recovered," reads the information.
Police say they determined the firearm was also stolen.
"Following the execution of the search warrant, RCMP had enough information to draft a second search warrant for another residence in Saddle Lake. During the execution of the second search warrant, one male was arrested and a third stolen firearm was recovered. Two of the three recovered firearms had been modified, making them prohibited weapons," according to RCMP.
Rodney Riel Gladue, 43, a resident of Saddle Lake was charged with careless use of a firearm, weapons possession contrary to order, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, along with other charges. Rodney Gladue was held for a judicial hearing and was remanded into custody. He was scheduled to be in court on March 27.
Caleb Peter Shirt, 39, a resident of Saddle Lake was charged with weapons possession contrary to order, unsafe storage of firearms, and other charges. Shirt was held for a judicial hearing and was remanded into custody. He was also set to appear in the St. Paul Court of Justice on March 27.
Lyle Alexander Gladue, 45, and Garrett John Gladue, 28, both residents of Saddle Lake, were jointly charged with several offences, including possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized, possession of a firearm with tampered serial number, weapons possession for trafficking, failing to comply with release order condition, and more.
Both Lyle Gladue and Garrett Gladue were held for judicial hearings. Garrett Gladue was remanded into custody and is set to appear in court on March 27. Lyle Gladue was released on conditions and is set to appear in court in St. Paul on April 17.
