UPDATED: RCMP investigate fatal crash on Highway 28

There are no charges pending in relation to a fatal collision that claimed the life of a 46-year-old man, according to Bonnyville RCMP. The two-vehicle collision occurred on Tuesday between a Dodge Ram pickup truck and a Honda Civic car on Highway 28 near Range Road 482.

BONNYVILLE - On Tuesday, the Bonnyville RCMP, the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority and EMS were dispatched to a fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 28 near Range Road 482.

The collision occurred about 16 miles southwest of the Town of Bonnyville involving a Dodge Ram pickup truck and a Honda Civic car. 

"[The] initial investigation revealed that the Honda crossed the center line and collided with the Dodge," states information provided by RCMP.

The 46-year-old male driver of the Honda was declared deceased on scene. Police later indicated that the man was a resident of Bonnyville.

The driver of the Dodge truck was not injured in the incident.

A portion of Highway 28 was shut down until around 6:45 p.m. that evening. MD Public Safety Peace Officers provided assistance with traffic control while an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene.

Police say that while the investigation continues, no charges are anticipated.

BONNYVILLE - Traffic is being rerouted around the intersection of Highway 28 and Range Road 481, known as the Kennedy Flats intersection, as emergency crews attend a two-vehicle collision.

Emergency Medical Services and Station 3 Glendon responded to the collision at 1:30 p.m. LakelandToday.ca will update this story when more details become available.

For now, motorists are asked to drive with caution in the area as they will be rerouted around the emergency scene. 

Emergency crews are not allowing traffic through a portion of Hwy 28 at this time.
