IRON RIVER - RCMP are looking for those responsible for stealing a fire truck from the Iron River Hall on April 10. RCMP also note that the theft did delay the response time to a barn fire the same day.
At about 1:30 a.m., unknown culprits broke into the Iron River Fire Hall stealing the truck, according to RCMP. The truck was located several hours later with "minor damage" in a ditch on Range Road 490, south of Township Road 625.
"It should be noted that the Iron River Fire Department was dispatched to a barn fire less than an hour after the truck was stolen and their response was negatively impacted by the theft," according to RCMP.
"The fire truck was also the fire department’s Medical Emergency Response Unit and could have had a grave negative impact had there been a medical emergency while it was missing," added RCMP.
Police are seeking a person of interest who was captured on video surveillance when the Fire Hall was broken into.
Anyone with information on who this person is or information regarding the vehicle they are believed to have driven to the fire hall is urged to contact the Bonnyville RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
