BONNYVILLE – In the wake of former Town of Bonnyville CAO Bill Rogers retiring, the Town of Bonnyville is on the hunt for a new CAO.
Mayor Elisa Brosseau said they are not in a hurry to recruit a new CAO, and that she is confident in Renee Stoyles’ ability to act as Interim CAO.
“Right now, she is working a dual role, and we just went through an audit, and she’s had to manage all of that. She’s doing an amazing job,” said Brosseau.
CAO’s are employed and hired by council, and Brosseau explained that they have utilized human resources solutions to help with the hiring process.
“We used a third-party recruiter to be fair to all the candidates, whether they’re internal or external. Internal applicants have to go through the process just like everybody else.”
Brosseau said the business of the Town is doing really well, and they are hoping to find a new CAO that can keep the momentum going.
“We’ve got a really good base as far as employees and our finances are doing really well. I would hope for someone that can come in and sustain where we’re at. We don’t want to see huge changes happening that could cause some worry for our staff.”
Brosseau said they have not set a timeline to have a new CAO hired, as they would like to take their time finding the right person for the job.
“We have a council that's very aggressive, and the staff know that. We've got some big priorities. So, we want somebody who's going to be open to looking outside the box and working with council to achieve some of those big priorities.”
