ELK POINT – Service disruptions at the Elk Point Healthcare Centre’s Emergency Department are expected this week, according to news from Alberta Health Services, with 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. closures on Dec. 5 to 6 and Dec. 8 to 9, in addition to the weekly closures from 7 a.m. Wednesdays to 8 a.m. Thursdays, until further notice.
Other expected upcoming disruptions will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 and Friday, Dec. 27.
These service disruptions are due to an ongoing gap in physician coverage.
Nursing staff will remain on-site in the emergency department during these times, providing triage, assessments and referrals for patients to alternate emergency departments in surrounding communities, as needed.
