Alberta archery tournament draws 80 shooters to Lac La Biche

Weekend event held weeks before Lac La Biche's Lakeland Archers welcome athletes for world championships

The Lakeland Archers club in Lac La Biche hosted third leg of the Archery Alberta ASA Tour over the July 5 weekend. The local club hoisted dozens of the province's best outdoor 3D archers as part of the tour that has stops in several Alberta communities through the summer months. The events wind-down on the August 9 weekend in Sundre with the finals.

Rene Schaub, the president of the Lakeland Archers, says the recent weekend of competition was another positive for the local archery club that is preparing to welcome archers from across the world in September for the World Archery Field Championships. The Lakeland Archers hosted a world championship back in 2019 and has played host to provincial and national shoots in recent years.

Schaub says  things are moving along well with preparations for the World Archery Field Championships, which are taking place in Lac La Biche from Sept. 16-22.
