UPDATE: Heavy police presence, shelter in place for area near Lac La Biche

The shelter in place has been lifted. RCMP say two people have been arrested.

LAC LA BICHE - There is a heavy police presence in the area of Highway 881 and Range Road 134, to the west, and Range Road 130A to the east, continuing north to the lake - along with a shelter in place being issued Thursday morning by Lac La Biche RCMP.  

"Police continue to search for suspects associated to multiple break-and-enters in the area," reads information from RCMP, released shortly before 10 a.m.

"RCMP is asking residents in this area to stay inside, lock their doors and stay away from windows while officers respond. Please refrain from posting photos of responding officers on social media," according to RCMP.

"We understand how situations such as this can make a community feel uneasy, but rest assured, your Alberta RCMP is working tirelessly to locate the suspects."

Police are asking the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or tips to the Lac La Biche RCMP at 780-623-4380.

Earlier in the morning, RCMP released a statement saying they were in the area of Highway 881 "between Lakeland Drive and Township Road 663, as they search for two suspects involved in a break-and-enter that occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m."

"At this time there is no description of the suspects available," according to RCMP.
