COLD LAKE - A complaint about a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Highway 55 west resulted in Cold Lake RCMP arresting and charging two people.

RCMP received the call on Feb. 27, at about 11:30 p.m.

"The dispatched officer activated his emergency lights in an attempt to pull the vehicle over when the occupants failed to stop for police," according to RCMP.

As the police officer turned onto RR 434, it was noted that the vehicle being pursued had hit the ditch, but no occupants were found inside the vehicle. Officers called on the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS) and initiated a track on the suspects.

"PDS initiated a lengthy track where both suspects ended up surrendering without incident," according to RCMP.

Ricky Whitstone, 28, of Kehewin, and Fabian Gladue, 36, of Bonnyville, were arrested and charged with flight from police, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Both were released with conditions by a Justice of the Peace after a Judicial Hearing and are scheduled to appear in Cold Lake Provincial Court on March 24.
