LAKELAND - Many school buses in the region likely won't be running for a second day in a row, Wednesday, as high winds and blowing snow continue to create unsafe road conditions.
St. Paul Education announced Tuesday evening that a decision to not run buses on Wednesday morning had already been made, although a decision regarding running buses Wednesday afternoon would be made on Wednesday.
Northern Lights Public Schools (NLPS) has cancelled buses for Wednesday, stating, "Regular classes will be going ahead, but programming may be modified if large numbers of students are absent."
Lakeland Catholic School Division has also cancelled buses for Nov. 17.
While most of the snow has finished falling, and the winter storm warning is no longer in effect, a wind warning does remain in effect for areas in the southern part of the region, including Two Hills, Myrnam, Vermilion, and toward Lloydminster.
"Strong, damaging winds with gusts up to 100 km/h will diminish later this evening," reads the Environment Canada weather alert. "Some areas will also experience low visibility due to blowing snow."
