ST. PAUL - The driver of a semi-truck was transported to hospital on Friday night after the vehicle he was driving rolled on its side along Highway 646, near Range Road 93, south of St. Paul.
"Emergency crews were called to a semi-truck with super-b trailers that rolled on its side... at 5:30 p.m.," confirmed St. Paul Fire Chief Trevor Kotowich. "The trailers were filled with crude oil, but luckily, due to the heavy construction of the tanks, they did not become compromised at all and no oil was spilled out."
The driver was transported to hospital by EMS.
"The carrier company called in another truck along with heavy equipment to off-load the cargo. This process took time to get established, and by around 9 p.m. the off-load began," says Kotowich.
Traffic was impacted along the highway and reduced to one lane during the process. At about 5 a.m. Saturday morning, the tanks - along with the damaged tractor - were removed and the highway was fully opened.
