Horse enthusiasts of all ages took part in this year’s annual gymkhana event on Aug. 30, one of a few events that help kick off rodeo week in St. Paul.

On Sunday afternoon, the Ag Corral bleachers were occupied by friends and family, who were watching the young horse riders compete in four different events, including barrel racing, pole bending, a stakes race, and a keyhole race.

While some horses zipped through the races, shooting gravel toward the crowd, others took their time, using the day as an opportunity to train their horses, and simply get more experience riding the animals.
