ADVERTORIAL – Dust, debris, and buildup in your heating system can affect more than just the furnace. It impacts your home’s air quality and your health.
Ekanatak Yehewin, a new commercial and residential duct and furnace service, can help. The business is a division under Saddle Lake Smoke Eaters LP, which provides Saddle Lake’s fire services, and owned by the Saddle Lake Cree Nation.
Andrew Cardinal, business manager, explained regular cleaning of furnace systems is essential in reducing allergens, extending the lifespan of heating systems, and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for families and businesses alike.
“Your home system needs to be cleaned yearly to breathe better air,” because over time, dust, dirt, and other pollutants accumulate in heating and ventilation systems, explained Andrew. He added 46 per cent of all matter ending up in the ventilation systems are dead human skin cells.
Leo Cardinal, a supervisor with the business, explained that if heating systems and ducts are left unchecked, the contaminants can contribute to reduced air quality, and can even lead to higher energy costs, and potential fire risks.
“[Regular cleaning] assists in maintaining your furnace’s longevity,” said Leo.
“Cleaning cuts down on the dust being sucked into critical furnace components, like the lower motor and the high limit switch,” which are often parts that accumulate dust the most.
Furnace filters, however, still do have to be changed on a regular basis, he cautioned.
Speaking how the business was formed, Andrew said, “We had to wait to get our houses done here. Local area companies were not able to provide timely service.”
“After identifying a gap in the local market, the business was created under the direction of Saddle Lake’s former chief, the late Terry Cardinal and the current board of Directors,” said Andrew.
“The intent of creating this entity was to create employment and a new source of revenue,” in addition to helping ensure duct and furnace services demands are met in the Saddle Lake area, said Andrew.
Ekanatak Yehewin, a member of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association, and their team have undergone rigorous training following the best practices of the industry to provide an efficient and professional job, every time.
